Periodic Table Curriculum - Nienhuis AMI

The periodic table makes complex scientific concepts easy to understand and very attractive. Its design encourages hands-on exploration to develop a deep understanding of the 118 elements that make up our world. You can start using this program in elementary school and continue to use it with students through middle school. It supports STEM learning and allows learners to fully immerse themselves in the constituent elements of each element, their discoveries and uses throughout history. Start by introducing your students to some of the basics with a presentation that uses 32 known element cards. Each of these 32 elements has its own color illustrated map as well as a separate historical map for students to participate in a "What am I" activity.

In addition, each of the cards features an icon describing the structure of the atom of the element in question. This first part is excellent for helping students understand the relationship between atomic numbers and electrons, as well as serving as a springboard for research activities. Continue your chemistry lessons by giving your students the opportunity to choose from one of the 118 element cards that make up the periodic table. Use them for your research or allow them to create their own periodic table on the floor. Watch them create one of the most impressive floor designs you and their parents have ever seen.
