A square wooden board with 4 pegs that contains 4 ellipsoids of the same size. Placing the ellipsoids on the pegs is a difficult task for the child. When the pegs seem to "disappear" into the ellipsoids, the child finds that the central hole in the ellipsoid also disappears and the shape becomes whole.
