In Montessori schools, there are often assignments, but they are usually different from those given in traditional schools.
But then, what are they?
Homework in Montessori schools is designed to encourage children to continue their learning independently at home, deepen their understanding of the topics they have covered in class, and develop their creativity. Homework can consist of hands-on activities, research projects, or additional reading.
However, Montessori pedagogy also values free time and personal discovery, so homework is not given simply for the sake of giving homework. Rather, the focus is on creating a learning environment where children are motivated to explore and discover independently , while having adequate support and guidance from their teachers.
